Of course, Junsu caught with you fairly quickly but you didn't notice until he put a hand on your shoulder. You jerked it off and tried to walk faster.
"Changmin!"
You felt suddenly angry at these strangers for knowing things you didn't.
"Leave me alone! I don't even know you!" you regretted the words as soon as they passed your mouth but you didn't stop to look at Junsu's hurt expression.
You kept walking, not wanting to think because if you did, guilt would overflow you and you've had enough of that.
You let your feet guide you and you didn't how long had passed but you finally stopped in front of a park. A swing was swaying, a sandcastle was slowly being destroyed by the rain and you walked to an empty green bank -- your arms were starting to hurt -- and sat on it. You figured it didn't matter to be a little more wet by now. You were soaked anyway.
The pitter-patter of the rain lulled you softly. You had always liked it, the rhythmic sound of droplets hitting the ground. You had also liked to watch them crash on your window and leave a wet trail while they ran down to touch the floor. You turned the palm of your hand upward and you smiled a little at the feeling of the water hitting you. When you realised, you let your hand fall down.
What were you doing? Running away -- because that was it was -- and acting silly. Watching the rain wouldn't help you. What were you going to do about Jaejoong? You had never really thought about your sexual orientation; you thought you had liked girls and that was it. But all this wasn't about your fifteen year old self; you had to take decisions about your current -- albeit unknown -- self. You didn't want to hurt nineteen year old you. When, and not if, you recovered your memories, you wanted your life to be the same. You had been happy before the accident, hadn't you? You had close friends and had apparently found love.
It could have been much worse and you wanted to trust your current self. You wanted to regain what you had lost.
You didn't hear the footsteps walking towards you and it was the umbrella suddenly protecting you from the rain that alerted you of the presence of Jaejoong. You looked at him from the corner of your eye before fixing your gaze on the swing in front of you. You spoke first, curiosity getting to you.
"How did you find me?"
"This park is where you always go after a fight, when you want to be alone. Like a hideout."
"If it's my hiding place, why do you know about it?"
You threw him a quick glance and saw him smiling fondly.
"You tend to lose yourself in your thoughts and lose track of time. Someone has to come and get you."
"Oh," you sighed, "I guess my body remembers better than I do."
He stayed silent. You felt his eyes on you and shivered.
"We should go back. You'll catch a cold."
"I won't," and on an impulse, "sit with me for a while."
After a small moment of hesitation, he complied, holding the umbrella between you two. You took his other hand and gently entwined your fingers with his. You ignored his sharp intake of breath and put your head on his shoulder. You closed your eyes, breathing the scent of the rain mingled with Jaejoong's cologne and listened to the rain pattering and Jaejoong's heartbeat going faster and faster.
"You're warm," you murmured and you didn't know if it reached his ears or if it was swallowed by the rain, but his hand squeezed yours.
Neither of you moved for a while, savouring the quiet after the storm of these last days. It was interrupted by the ring tone of Jaejoong's phone. He let go of your hand to retrieve it from the pocket of his coat. He looked at the screen, mumbled a Junsu to you and took the call.
"Yes?" You couldn't hear the reply, "he's with me," Jaejoong was interrupted, "yes, he's okay. You can stop panicking," another silence, "of course. We'll be back soon," and he ended the call.
"So. We better head back before he imagines we're in a car accident."
You winced but stood nonetheless. He stood up too, so you would still be under the umbrella.
"Ah. Sorry that was a bad joke."
You shrugged, "it's okay. We should go."
You had to look pretty pathetic because Jaejoong began to unbutton his coat.
"What are you doing?!"
"Giving you my coat-"
You stopped his hands.
"I like feeling the rain on me and beside you'll catch a cold."
"That's my line! You can't be fine. You're soaked and your skin is red from the cold. And you look tired too. You'll take my coat and I'll call a taxi. No discussion."
You finally accepted but only if he shared the coat with you -- which put you in an uncomfortable position because of the crutches and the umbrella. After much insisting from Jaejoong on you being tired and that you weren't heavy anyway, which was a blatant lie but you were too exhausted to be stubborn, so you let him have his way.. It took a few minutes to figure out how to make it work and you were on his back, the umbrella in your hand. You were afraid you'd be too heavy for him but it was a short walk to the street and the taxi arrived shortly after.
You fell asleep during the ride and when you woke up you were still in the taxi, in front of your apartment building, your head on Jaejoong's shoulder. You lifted it and Jaejoong paid the fare. He helped you out of the car. Junsu was waiting under an umbrella and you felt too guilty to look at him in the eyes so you fixed your gaze on the hand holding a blanket. He ran toward you, bumping Jaejoong's umbrella with his. Jaejoong took a step back and Junsu wrapped you in the fluffy blanket -- awkwardly until Jaejoong stole his umbrella and held it above you both. You smiled. Jaejoong looked silly, one umbrella in each hand. Junsu put a hand on your elbow, pulling you slightly forward.
"I was so worried, you know, I kept thinking about what if..." he bit his lower lip and you finally looked in his eyes.
"I'm sorry for running off like that and... you know I didn't mean what I said earlier, right?"
Junsu hugged you, "if I wasn't so glad you came back in one piece, I'd cut your head off."
"It's not that I want to interrupt this touching reunion but I can't feel my arms anymore," said Jaejoong, a frown on his face.
Junsu teased him about being weak but still complied and you were soon being warmed by a hot shower. When you had finished, the mirror was covered by steam and you let your finger slide on it and , without thinking, you had drawn a heart and what could have been the beginning of a "j". Your cheeks became warm and you quickly passed your hand on the cool surface, erasing your doodles.
You let a trail of water on the floor as you went back to your room. After a few minutes of indecision, you picked the softest looking clothes: a purple pullover and green training pants made of jersey. The colours didn't match but the clothes felt good on your skin so you figured it didn't matter. You made your way to the living room. Your head was pounding a bit and your throat was too dry so you swallowed a few times to soothe it.
A steaming cup of what looked like hot chocolate was waiting for you on the coffee table in front of the couch. You looked around but no one was there and you could hear voices coming from a far off room. You couldn't make out who was taking though. Not that your were really curious; you were quite tired and the nap on Jaejoong hadn’t really relieved you from this state. You sat on the couch, letting your crutches fall beside it and leant to take the cup. You burnt your tongue at the first sip so you blew on the liquid. You liked the little waves it made so you did it for a bit longer than was necessary. You took a few sips again, the sweet taste putting a smile on your lips, and it made you feel warmer. You put the cup back on the table and laid on the couch, careful with your broken leg you had mistreated earlier. It ached but it subsided as you breathed deeply a few times, suddenly finding yourself reminding of Jaejoong’s warmth against you. You felt your eyelids closing against your will. You blinked a few times to clear the sleepiness away but you were so comfortable -- your worries seeming smaller now that you had taken a decision -- that you didn’t resist for long and sleep invaded you.
A/N: Cute fluffy JaeMin and Min is in the right direction, yey! I took longer than I thought I would and the chapter is shorter than the last because what I wanted to put didn't really fit so I preferred to end it there. Also... I passed the 10'000 words! That's the longest multi-chapter fic I've written. Also I originally wanted to make 30 chapters (yes, 30) but the fic isn't really turning how I had imagined it, so I am still hesitating... Rambling again. Anyway, thanks for reading!
