Fic:in_vazn ficlet - attention & broken!TVXQ (gen, jaemin, jaeho)
For in
in_vazn. My claim is Changmin for the table#2 and I definitively was in a sad mood.
324 words, G, gen, attention: "This moment deserves your full attention, for it will not pass your way again."
Jaejoong was laughing -- a hand hiding his mouth -- as Junsu, turning bright red, was telling a bad joke. Yunho was trying to hide his smile -- like Jaejoong, you thought, but not in the same way -- and Yoochun had tears shining in the corner of his eyes. You only smiled, bittersweet in the edge; you hadn't really listened to Junsu, more interested in engraving their reactions in your memory. You wanted your last memory of them to be joyful and you thanked Junsu in your mind, for knowing you this well or more probably for just being his usual self. You breathed deeply and, even though the smell so peculiar of the hospital filled your nose, you felt peaceful.
The laughers diminished to finally become silence and they looked at you, as if you were, somehow, magically cured by the smiles and wishes and bad jokes that they shared with you when they visited. Jaejoong broke the silence, "how are you feeling?" "Better," you responded, lying with a smile and closed eyes. You heard Junsu's hopeful voice, "so you will be coming back soon, right?" and felt a tiny bit guilty. "Surely." Another lie. "We've to go. We'll come back tomorrow, alright?" Yunho said and you nodded, "of course." "Sleep well," added Yoochun as they finally left the room.
Sleep well. You would. Your eyelids felt already heavy and you heard the machine slow down at the same time that your heartbeat did. You closed your eyes, concentrating on the four of them and the attention they gave you. You felt strangely happy to be the first to go so you wouldn't have to bear the pain of them leaving you. It was selfish, you knew, and you felt guilty again. But they wouldn't be alone, you thought and it cheered you up. They wouldn't be alone, your last thought was, as your heart slowed down for a last time.
561 words, PG-13, JaeHo, past Jaemin, sequel of attention, broken!TVXQ: "Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly."
The day they came back to the hospital and found the room empty had become a blurred memory, Jaejoong would tell later, a glass full of alcohol cradled in his hands. Except, he remembered an angry Yunho shouting at their manager, why hadn't he told them when he had received the call? Why? Fuck. He remembered a crying Yoochun and Junsu murmuring liar, liar, liar again and again. Jaejoong remembered feeling numb because, well, it had felt impossible at that time. Changmin would never have left them like that, of course not, he was simply hiding beneath the bed. Scared of needles. That was surely it. He remembered having looked beneath the bed, having crawled beneath it. Changmin, stop hiding, he had said, it's not funny. Someone had gripped his ankle and pulled him but he had clutched at a bed foot. Stop it Jae! but he hadn't, of course, he wouldn't have abandoned his cute dongsaeng after all. Then he had felt something prickly and thing had really started to become blurry.
"You should stop drinking."
Jaejoong glared at Yunho, "mind your own business." Yunho sighed, "we had to sedate you. You really wouldn't let go of the bed."
"Mm. Really?" It didn't matter anyway and he preferred to forget. He liked blurry. He drank another glass. There. He already saw things blurry, the contours of his glass was becoming fuzzy.
"Y'know. I'm... am forgetting stuff 'bout him," it seemed to Jae that Yunho was looking at him curiously, but he couldn't be sure, "like... the sound of his laugh. Sad, isn't it?"
"We should go home. Yoochun and Junsu are probably worried."
"N'thing to be worried about. I'm with you after all," Jaejoong said, a slight smile on his lips, stumbling on the words as he stumbled with the chair when he tried to get up. Yunho stopped him from falling and wasn't very surprised to see tears on his face. He passed an arm around his shoulder, threw some money on the table and dragged Jaejoong along as he left the pub.
"I miss him so much," mumbled Jaejoong when Yunho made him sit in the car. It sounded desperate and Yunho put the safety belt on for him.
"I know," the belt clicked and he tried to get away.
"Do you really?" and Jaejoong was pulling him toward and kissed him, a needy sound on the back of his throat. Yunho pushed him back, wiping his lips to erase the salty taste. Jaejoong cried more, clutching at Yunho's shirt, "you aren't leaving me too, are you?"
Yunho sighed, "of course not."
Jaejoong sniffed, eyes accusing, "liar."
"I'm not Changmin," it was a low thing to say, Yunho knew. Jaejoong tensed, "you aren't. He left me, you didn't," he hiccuped," and you won't?"
"I won't."
"It's a promise, right?"
"I promise," and Yunho kissed him on the forehead. Jaejoong smiled at him happily, mumbling an I like you a lot as he fell asleep easily. Yunho closed the door and circled the car to get to his seat. He paused, looking at the now peaceful Jaejoong, and brushed aside some locks of hair covering the closed eyes. He sighed.
"You like me but you still love him," and he started the car.
